The Dillon Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. Everything went their way against Red Springs as Dillon made off with a 61-37 victory. That 24 points margin sets a new team best for Dillon this season.
Dillon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Treasure Davis, who scored 16 points along with eight steals. Davis hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Khwnylahi Mckinnon was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with nine steals.
Red Springs lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Monica Washington, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 40.5% of Red Springs' points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrianna Locklear, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Dillon pushed their record up to 8-4 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points per game. As for Red Springs, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dillon will square off against Loris at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Loris focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday. Red Springs will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Pauls at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. St. Pauls presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Red Springs in North Carolina (St. Pauls is ranked 197th, while Red Springs is ranked 441st).
