Basketball Recap: Covington Comes Up Short

Covington was the 76-55 winner over Memphis Home Education Association when they last played one another back in December of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Chargers took a hard 42-23 fall against Memphis Home Education Association on Saturday. The matchup marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Defeat or not, Covington got some senior leadership from Devon Mason and Tristen Jackson. Mason posted eight points and 11 boards, while Jackson put up four points and seven rebounds. Mason has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Ryan Williams also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Covington and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Memphis Home Education Association, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Looking ahead, Covington will venture away from home to square off against Ripley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 52.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Memphis Home Education Association, they will be home for the holidays to greet Fayette Ware at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Memphis Home Education Association's defense better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 77 points per game this season.
