Last Tuesday, Eagle Valley strolled past Battle Mountain with points to spare, taking the game 58-44. Given Eagle Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Battle Mountain is ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eagle Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dylan Zoller led the charge by scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Newbanks, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Grand Junction Central escaped with a win on Thursday against Palisade by the margin of a single free throw, 38-37.
Eagle Valley's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Grand Junction Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.
