Softball Recap: Elkhorn Has No Trouble Against Waterford

While Elkhorn didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Waterford Wolverines on Monday as they made off with a 17-7 victory. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Elks this season.

Ellie Jacobson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, eight RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Addison Schliepp, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Elkhorn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Elkhorn pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Waterford, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2.

Elkhorn wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-4 win against Janesville Parker on the 16th. Hopefully Waterford paid attention to the Elks' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Elks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
