Softball Recap: Morningside Academy Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Morningside Academy entered their tilt with Westwood on Friday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Panthers 18-3. Considering the Eagles have won ten matchups by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Gabbriella Oliver spent all four innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.

At the plate, Reghan Wilbur was a standout: she scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Meghan Enyart, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Morningside Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Morningside Academy's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Westwood, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morningside Academy will face off against Glades Day at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gators have averaged an impressive 13.1 runs per game this season. As for Westwood, they will challenge Treasure Coast at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
