The Anton Bulldogs lost against the Whitharral Panthers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Anton was dealt a 71-40 defeat at the hands of the Panthers. Anton has struggled against the Panthers recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Whitharral's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathaniel Sansom, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Sansom hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nomar Gomez, who scored 19 points.
Anton's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Whitharral, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-4.
Anton will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Amherst is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Whitharral, they will head out on the road to take on the Antelopes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Whiteface will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1267th, while the Panthers are ranked 613th).
