Having just played yesterday, the McKean Highlanders will get right back to it and host the DuPont Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on February 13th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
McKean scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They really took it to First State Military Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-25 win at home. Perhaps unsurprisinly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McKean to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dolores Samson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Samson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexus Barlow, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, DuPont stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They blew past Brandywine, posting a 74-26 victory at home. Given DuPont's advantage in MaxPreps' Delaware basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Brandywine is ranked 48th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
McKean's win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for DuPont, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
McKean was dealt a bruising 74-30 loss at the hands of DuPont in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point McKean was down 49-11.
