They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Chieftains 42-6 at home. The Islanders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most  points they've scored all season.
  Nelsyn Wheeler was  his usual excellent self, rushing for 197 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Those 197  rushing yards gave  him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Gavin Semm, who threw for 148 yards and two touchdowns.
 On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Grand Island's defense and their six sacks.  Hudson Oliver was especially locked on to Bellevue East's QB and sacked him twice. Oliver is also on a roll when it comes to  total tackles, as he's  now  made five or more in the last five games he's  played dating back to last season.
 Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Grand Island was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 261  rushing yards. That's the most  rushing yards they've managed all season.
 Meanwhile, Omaha Northwest was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight  defeat. They were beaten by Westview 46-0.
 Grand Island's first  win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Omaha Northwest, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-7.
 Everything came up roses for Grand Island against Omaha Northwest in their previous matchup  back in October of 2023, as the  team secured  a  79-6 victory. Will Grand Island repeat their success,  or does  Omaha Northwest have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
