The Hanford West Huskies will challenge the Buchanan Bears at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Hanford West will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Hanford West will bounce into Monday's match after beating Kingsburg, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Huskies walked away with an 8-4 win over the Vikings on Friday. The game was the first time the Huskies have beaten the Vikings on their field since April 9, 2019.
Rylan Montoya spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

On the hitting side, Emma Guzman was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Kennidy Perryman was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Buchanan). They blew past Clovis West 13-6 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Brooklyn Ainsworth made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harmony McMurry, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Addy Schafer, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Buchanan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clovis West only posted an OBP of .323.
Hanford West's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Buchanan, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Hanford West hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like Buchanan struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Hanford West couldn't quite finish off Buchanan in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
