Baseball Recap: Rockbridge Academy Beats Greater Grace Christian Academy for Their Fourth Straight Win

Rockbridge Academy came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Greater Grace Christian Academy Eagles 11-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-5 on Tuesday.

John Ault made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Will Schingeck and Christian Keatts did most of the damage at the plate: Schingeck went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs, while Keatts went 1-for-2 with five stolen bases and two runs. Schingeck is becoming a predictor of Rockbridge Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Micah Farris, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Rockbridge Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Greater Grace Christian Academy, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Rockbridge Academy will head out on the road to take on Mount Airy Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Rockbridge Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: Mount Airy Christian Academy has averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Greater Grace Christian Academy, they will welcome Covenant Life at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.17 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
