The Eldorado Sundevils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by Somerset Academy Losee 69-10. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Eldorado in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Eldorado lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dayana Romero. Despite the final result, she scored six points.
Somerset Academy Losee got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Key Thrower out in front who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten steals. Thrower has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Akaylah Thrower, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine steals.
Eldorado dropped their record down to 2-13 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Somerset Academy Losee, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eldorado will take on the Bengals at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Bonanza is ranked 91st, while the Sundevils are ranked 97th). As for Somerset Academy Losee, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Desert Shields at 6:30 p.m. on January 29th. Hopefully Cheyenne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
