The Wooster Colts will head out on the road to face off against the Sparks Railroaders at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sparks took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Wooster, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Wooster had just enough and edged the Vikings out 53-50.
Wooster got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamal Gaitor out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Marquicias, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Sparks had to suffer through a rough 83-47 loss at the hands of the Hawks. Sparks was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-19.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jaoquin Tagulao, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. Eli Flores was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with three steals.
Wooster is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. As for Sparks, they dropped their record down to 4-18 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Wooster have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Sparks struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Wooster's way against the Railroaders in their previous meeting last Wednesday as the Colts made off with a 63-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wooster since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
