Section 6 A - South recap October 22, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Section 6 A - South this week, South Park/Middle Early College beat Cardinal O'Hara 46-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for South Park/Middle Early College.
Hamburg moved up to 235 from 344 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Frontier 14-7.
Lake Shore's dynamic duo of Colin Fiutko and Tyler Levitt proved to be unstoppable against Riverside/International Prep at Grove/LaFayette/Da Vinci, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Fiutko threw for 46 yards and 2 touchdowns and Levitt had 20 yards receiving. Steve Fessel helped Lake Shore's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 15 yards.
Mitch Gomolka provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Hamburg bested the Falcons.
Mark Myles made the biggest impact on defense this week as Pat Cauley's team defeated Frontier. The 5-foot-7 junior forced 1 fumble and recorded 1 fumble.
5-foot-11 quarterback Alex Suchan of the Bulldogs is the league leader in passing yards this season with 672. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Corey Fiutko. The Lake Shore star has 10 catches for 299 yards.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Hamburg and the Eagles face off next week.
At the moment, the Bulldogs are in fourth, while Lake Shore is in third.
The league will see a high scoring game when Hamburg and Drew Takacs' team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Bulldogs comes in having scored 96 this season, while the Eagles have scored 170. Hamburg scored 14 points last week as it topped Timothy Myslinski's team.
Lake Shore took down Riverside/International Prep at Grove/LaFayette/Da Vinci 58-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Fiutko ran for 12 yards in the win.
