This season hasn't been kind to the ASU Prep Sun Devils, who are still winless after their tenth contest. They were beaten by Ridgeline Academy 65-3 on Thursday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points ASU Prep has scored all season.
Leading Ridgeline Academy to victory were Cayci Muessig and Nadya Gutierrez. Muessig scored 19 points, while Gutierrez scored 20 points. Gutierrez is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Kalliee K was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
ASU Prep dropped their record down to 0-10 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 8.2 points per game. As for Ridgeline Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. ASU Prep won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way at 4:30 p.m. on January 26th. Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Ridgeline Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against BASIS - Peoria at 4:45 p.m. BASIS - Peoria will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while Ridgeline Academy is ranked 40th).
