Rockridge is a perfect 10-0 against Riverdale since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Rockets will face off against the Rams at 4:30 p.m. Rockridge will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Rockridge can't be too worried about heading out to take on Riverdale: they just beat Sherrard at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Rockets had just enough and edged out the Tigers 6-5 on Wednesday.
Taylor Dieterich made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Dieterich was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charley Perkins, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Estellah Bognar was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Rockridge lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Riverdale's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 7-4 to Rockridge.
Brooklyn Peterson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Cox, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Rockridge pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Riverdale, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 15-4.
Both Rockridge and Riverdale just can't seem to miss. The Rockets have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Riverdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rockridge was able to grind out a solid win over Riverdale when the teams last played on Monday, winning 7-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
