Basketball Recap: St. George's Continues Home Dominance on Friday

If Mount de Sales Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played St. George, they should've done a better job of containing Jules Gotell. St. George's came out on top against the Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers by a score of 50-37 on Friday thanks in part to Gotell, who went 10 of 23 on her way to 29 points. The matchup was her seventh in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Pressley Burson, who went 7 for 14 on her way to 15 points and five rebounds. She has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last five times she's played.

Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Julia Bonbrake, who posted 11 points and five rebounds. Kenzie Jordan was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

St. George's pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Mount de Sales Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

When St. George's and Mount de Sales Academy next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. St. George's will try to stop Piedmont Academy's four-game winning streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025. St. George's defense has only allowed 23.4 points per game this season, so Mount de Sales Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. Meanwhile, Mount de Sales Academy will try to stop Strong Rock Christian's ten-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th.
