The Hialeah Thoroughbreds pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westland Hialeah. Hialeah was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Westland Hialeah found their leader in underclassman Frank Sosa, who scored 29 points along with seven assists and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sosa has scored at least a third of Westland Hialeah's points. Another player making a difference was Tim Trimmings, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.
Hialeah has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Westland Hialeah, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 15-5.
Hialeah will take on the Wolverines at TBD on Tuesday. Hopefully Belen Jesuit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Tuesday. As for Westland Hialeah, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
