Basketball Recap: Clint Takes a Loss

If Clint was feeling good fresh off their 56-33 takedown of Immanuel Christian last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Clint Lions came up short against the Chapin Huskies on Tuesday, falling 49-26. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Huskies recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Defeat or not, Clint got some senior leadership from Chloe Arredondo and Anabella Portillo. Arredondo posted six points and six boards, while Portillo had eight points and five rebounds. Portillo has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

Chapin was led to victory by Jasmine Blake and Vanessa Mora. Blake went 8 of 15 on her way to 18 points and six rebounds, while Mora went 6 of 11 on her way to 17 points. The dominant performance gave Mora a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Autumn Blackwell, who put up three points and seven rebounds.

Clint's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-5. As for Chapin, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season.

Clint will venture away from home to square off against Bowie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Chapin, they will host San Elizario at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. San Elizario will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Chapin surely won't give up without a fight.
