The Pendleton Heights Arabians will head out to take on the Yorktown Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pendleton Heights is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Pendleton Heights took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over New Castle. The Arabians haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Morgan Bricker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Pendleton Heights saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avry Miller, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Pendleton Heights hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 6-3 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Yorktown entered their tilt with Madison-Grant on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Argylls by a score of 12-7.
Olivia Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Jones was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Jaromin, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Bartle, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Pendleton Heights' record is now 12-14. As for Yorktown, their record now sits at 16-4.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pendleton Heights hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Yorktown struggles in that department as they've averaged .385. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pendleton Heights couldn't quite finish off Yorktown in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Arabians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
