The Brunswick Pirates won the last time they faced the Grovetown Warriors, and things went their way on Saturday too. Brunswick walked away with a 45-36 victory over Grovetown.
Brunswick was led to victory by Jakai Alston and Shania Jones. Alston dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Jones dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauryn Walker, who scored three points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
The win got Brunswick back to even at 8-8. As for Grovetown, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-9.
Brunswick and Effingham County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Effingham County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 419th, while Brunswick is ranked 123rd). As for Grovetown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakeside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
