The Sunrise Mountain Miners's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their seventh straight loss. They fell 69-56 to Las Vegas. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Sunrise Mountain still got an impressive performance from Elijah Redic, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 50% of Sunrise Mountain's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brice Wilson, who scored 11 points.
Las Vegas was led to victory by Jahmarrick Davenport and Tayshaun Jackson. Davenport scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, while Jackson scored 28 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Jackson has scored at least a third of Las Vegas' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakhai Jones, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Sunrise Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Las Vegas, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunrise Mountain will face off against Bonanza at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bonanza has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for Las Vegas, they will head out on the road to square off against Silverado at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Cyril Franklin, Jr. and Jackson.
