For the second straight game, Columbia will face off against Sumrall. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Columbia Wildcats challenge Sumrall Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Columbia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Columbia's last matchup with Sumrall could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Tuesday. Columbia lost 7-0 to Sumrall. The match marked the first time this year in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.

For Sumrall's part, Columbia's batters probably weren't too happy with Drew Davis, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (he gave up two walks). What's more, Davis gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kellan Garcia, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Hawkins, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for Sumrall and bumps their season record up to 11-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Columbia, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-5.

Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Columbia has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. However, it's not like Sumrall struggles in that department as they've averaged .458. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
