Flat Rock is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Huron is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Rams will host the Chiefs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Flat Rock not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6th (when they won 16-6). They put the hurt on Jefferson with a sharp 12-5 victory.
Vanessa Neace made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Ashlin Woodman was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 12 contests. Sarah Giroux was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Flat Rock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Huron hadn't done well against Woodhaven recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Chiefs were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over the Warriors. Considering the Chiefs have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Flat Rock, Huron also got a great game from a two-way player: Madison Kuzara. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Kuzara was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with four stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Addison Ramsby was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Sasha Pender, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Huron's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Flat Rock, their victory bumped their record up to 13-10-1.
