Softball Recap: Sandalwood Has No Trouble Against Orange Park

Sandalwood's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Orange Park Raiders. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Emmie Dawley, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Annie Bascon, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Dawley wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Sandalwood lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Sandalwood is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Orange Park, their record now sits at 3-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sandalwood will face off against Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Generals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19 runs per game on average), something the Saints will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Orange Park, they will take on Ridgeview at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
