Pen Argyl has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Bangor Slaters at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Pen Argyl focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Pen Argyl was beaten by the Crusaders 70-38. While losing is never fun, Pen Argyl can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 626th, while the Crusaders are ranked 113th).
Despite the defeat, Pen Argyl saw an underclassman step up: Mason Soos scored 11 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Kennedy, who scored 13 points.
Pen Argyl struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are 1-5 when they can't control their own glass like that.
Meanwhile, Bangor was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 59-53 to the Panthers. Bangor has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Pen Argyl's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Bangor, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Pen Argyl, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-31 loss to the Slaters in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Pen Argyl avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
