The Milford Mill Academy Millers will head out on the road to face off against the Decatur Seahawks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Milford Mill Academy sitting on three straight wins and Decatur on 12.
Milford Mill Academy extended their postseason success on Friday against Potomac. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 42-10 victory over the Wolverines. With Milford Mill Academy ahead 42-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Keion Sutton was a one-man wrecking crew for Milford Mill Academy as he rushed for 268 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 15.8 yards per carry. Sutton really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. Deshawn Purdie was another key contributor, throwing for 158 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 passes.
Meanwhile, Decatur can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They breezed by Wilde Lake at home to the tune of 52-7. Given Decatur's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Wilde Lake is ranked 140th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Brycen Coleman, who rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns.
Milford Mill Academy's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.0 points per game. As for Decatur, their win bumped their record up to 12-0.
Milford Mill Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Decatur when the teams last played back in November of 2022, winning 40-33. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Decatur's Luke Mergott, who punched in two rushing scores, and also picked up 70 receiving yards. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Milford Mill Academy to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
