Alton posted their closest win since April 28th on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Granite City Warriors. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 back in April.

Alton had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-12, 25-22.

With the win, Alton broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-19. As for Granite City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alton will venture away from home to square off against Collinsville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Kahoks will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Redbirds surely won't give up without a fight. As for Granite City, they will head out to challenge Belleville West at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
