The Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took down Liberty Christian 78-61. Given Guerin Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Liberty Christian is ranked 175th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Robert Sorensen, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. He also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Bryson Cardinal, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
Guerin Catholic pushed their record up to 13-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Liberty Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Guerin Catholic will take on Lafayette Central Catholic at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lafayette Central Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Saturday. Liberty Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lawrence Central at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
