The Clearfield Bison will face off against the Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clearfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Clearfield proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 11) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Tyrone, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bison have posted since May 14, 2024.
Megan Wisor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. Those hits were her first of the season.
On the hitting side, Clearfield's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Madi McBride, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Hollidaysburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of DuBois.
Mikaylah Vincent was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Vincent was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Maggie Hicks was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Sophia Morris, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Clearfield's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1. As for Hollidaysburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Hollidaysburg's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Clearfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. It's a different story for Hollidaysburg, though, as they've only averaged .230. Will they be able to contain Clearfield's hitters?
