After flying high against the Calvary Lutheran Lions last Monday, the Belle Tigers came back down to earth. Belle took a 56-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Iberia on Thursday. Belle has struggled against Iberia recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Iberia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaye Humphrey, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylyn Piggott, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Belle has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for Iberia, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7.
Belle won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Viburnum at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Iberia, they will head out on the road to square off against St. Elizabeth at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Iberia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
