The San Pasqual Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Westview Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (San Pasqual 3.2, Westview 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
San Pasqual took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against El Camino, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. San Pasqual sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over El Camino on Tuesday.
Kayleigh Carby spent all 11.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Avery Santos, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylie Merz, who went 3-for-5 with one RBI.
Santos wasn't the only one working in the hit department: San Pasqual kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. San Pasqual is a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Westview entered their contest against Scripps Ranch on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Westview fell just short of Scripps Ranch by a score of 7-6.
Westview also got a good showing from Kaya Rodriguez, who kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Rodriguez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Reese Marier made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Emma Guzman was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Westview suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 6-4-1. As for San Pasqual, their record now sits at 6-4.
San Pasqual couldn't quite finish off Westview when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can San Pasqual avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
