The Weston Ranch Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Lathrop Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Weston Ranch knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Lathrop likes a good challenge.
Weston Ranch proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 win over Denair. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since March 25, 2024.
Treshia Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and seven unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 13 Ks. She also put up five walks, which were her first of the season.

At the plate, Baylee Santiago and Cianna Avamolifua did most of the damage at the plate: Santiago scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3, while Avamolifua went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Santiago is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Mya Harrison, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Weston Ranch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .532 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Lathrop didn't have quite enough to beat Sierra on Monday and fell 9-8. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Luz DeLuna made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Tianna Gonzalez, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-4.
Weston Ranch's record now sits at 5-1. As for Lathrop, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Lathrop's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Weston Ranch has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .565. It's a different story for Lathrop, though, as they've only averaged .333. Will they be able to contain Weston Ranch's hitters?
Weston Ranch might still be hurting after the 12-1 defeat they got from Lathrop in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can Weston Ranch avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
