Jarius Kesee and Brock Bailey provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Sweeny. The connection was good for 52 yards, the longest such play in 3A Region III District 24 this season.
Stafford scaled the state rankings by moving to 241 from 279 this week, the biggest jump in the league.
Dorland Fields was a force in the backfield as the Bulldogs topped Columbia.
Fields was a passing and rushing force as Sweeny defeated the Roughnecks.
Kesee put up the best numbers through the air as Columbia lost to Paul Kilby's team. He finished with 6 completions for 124 yards. Kesee's favorite target this week was Bailey, who caught 3 passes for 69 yards.
Randy Lynch's team's Kesee and Bailey have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Kesee has thrown for 791 yards this season, while Bailey has 7 catches for 160 yards. The Bulldogs' Fields leads the league in rushing yards with 1,270.
The top two teams in 3A Region III District 24 will face off this week when first place Stafford takes on second place Sweeny.
The league will see a high scoring game when Sweeny and the Spartans face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Bulldogs comes in having scored 262 this season, while Stafford has scored 283. Sweeny scored 34 points last week as it bested the Roughnecks.
