College Park is 8-2 against Northgate since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Falcons will look to defend their home field against the Broncos at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
College Park will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Acalanes on Thursday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Dons. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Dons: they've now won six in a row.
College Park got a massive performance out of Vanessa Brunal, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Brunal a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Weiler, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
College Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Acalanes only posted a batting average of .267.
Meanwhile, Northgate got the win against Acalanes on Saturday by a conclusive 15-4.
Ashley Herman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Herman was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other pitching news, Valentina Picazo looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Taelyn Jriyasetapong was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Sophie Hanko was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
College Park's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Northgate, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. College Park hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like Northgate struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
