Baseball Recap: O'connor Wins Going Away Against Stevens

O'Connor won the last time they faced Stevens and things went their way on Thursday too. The Panthers put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 10-1 win. Considering the Panthers have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ryan Mason made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because O'Connor is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9 otherwise. Mason was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cali-Evan Billela was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Contreras, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.

O'Connor is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Stevens, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-15.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. O'Connor will square off against rival Taft at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Stevens is set to take on their familiar foe Marshall at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
