Union and Owasso are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2017, but not for long. The Redhawks will face off against the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Union took a loss when they played away from home on September 12th, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Edmond Santa Fe by a score of 16-6. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Redhawks' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Wolves are ranked 47th).
Skyler Moorman looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 149 yards and two TDs, while also rushing for 48 yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Union's defense and their four sacks. Edmond Santa Fe's QB won't forget Rocky Bright anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Reyon Williams was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Owasso strolled past Broken Arrow with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 28-14. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.
Union better focus on containing Drew Frankenfield and Jayden Hall as the pair were huge in Owasso's win. Frankenfield threw for 196 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Hall rushed for 203 yards. Those 203 rushing yards gave Hall a new career-high.
Owasso was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 261 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Broken Arrow only rushed for 144.
The victory got Owasso back to even at 2-2. As for Union, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Union has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 186.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Owasso struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 282.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Union was dealt a bruising 48-14 loss at the hands of Owasso in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Redhawks were down 27-0.
