Iowa-Grant and Mineral Point are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Panthers will welcome the Pointers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Iowa-Grant is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Boscobel a 20-0 shutout on Monday. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the Bulldogs on their field since June 21, 2021.
Quinn Hoeper made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Hoeper was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Trinity Baker was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Carly Shores was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Iowa-Grant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Mineral Point waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Golden Eagles, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pointers have posted since May 11, 2024.
Iowa-Grant has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Mineral Point, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Iowa-Grant was able to grind out a solid victory over Mineral Point when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 4-0. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pointers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
