2A Conference 7 recap October 1, 2013
West Stokes extended the longest winning streak in 2A Conference 7 this week by beating Mount Airy, 40-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Wildcats.
North Surry fell to T.W. Andrews 55-3 last week, the largest margin of any game.
West Stokes' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Alex Manley threw for 166 yards and Ricky Kirchenbauer had 76 yards receiving. On the ground Manley contributed 116 yards. Grayson Cobb helped West Stokes' passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 49 yards.
Dalton Seat made the biggest impact on defense this week as Jimmy Upchurch's team topped the Bears. The 6-foot-2 senior.
Manley put up the best numbers in passing as the Wildcats beat Mount Airy. Manley's favorite target this week was Kirchenbauer, who caught 6 passes for 76 yards.
West Stokes' Manley and Kirchenbauer led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Manley has thrown for 577 yards this season, while Kirchenbauer, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 23 catches for 346 yards. Jaquan Martin from South Stokes leads the league in rushing with 825 yards.
Carver led the league in scoring this week after putting up 54 points on Lexington.
