Canyon del Oro has gone a perfect 5-0 against Casa Grande recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Canyon del Oro will take on Casa Grande at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Canyon del Oro has eight straight wins, Casa Grande has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Canyon del Oro's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Maricopa as Canyon del Oro made off with a 14-0 victory. Considering the Dorados have won five contests by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Tarrell Reid made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Canyon del Oro got a big performance out of Peyton Carson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, Carson posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Brayden Hoyler was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Canyon del Oro hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Casa Grande lost 13-1 to Vista Grande on Thursday. The matchup marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Canyon del Oro pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Casa Grande, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Canyon del Oro has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. However, it's not like Casa Grande struggles in that department as they've averaged .453. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Canyon del Oro was able to grind out a solid win over Casa Grande in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, winning 9-5. Will Canyon del Oro repeat their success, or does Casa Grande has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
