St. Edward won the last time they faced Santee, and things went their way on Friday, too. Everything came up roses for St. Edward against Santee as the team secured a 58-12 victory. St. Edward were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
St. Edward started the contest off right with 39 first-half points. Meanwhile, Santee couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 39-0 heading into the break. St. Edward put the matchup away in the third quarter with 13 points from the offense and six points allowed from the defense.
Senior Lucien Ruby, who rushed for 176 yards and 3 touchdowns, was a major factor in St. Edward's success. In fact, with 12 tackles Ruby was a force on both sides of the ball. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Trevor Rasmussen, who racked up 17 tackles.
Next week St. Edward take on Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family at 7:00 PM. Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family have averaged 58 points over the course of their past four games, so St. Edward might be in for a challenge. As for Santee, they will face off against Spalding Academy. Spalding Academy have averaged 78 points over the course of their past six games, so Santee might be in for a challenge.
