Alexandria-Monroe is on an 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Marion is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Tigers will host the Giants at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Alexandria-Monroe is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.
If Alexandria-Monroe beats Marion with ten runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Tigers put the hurt on Eastbrook with a sharp 10-3 win on Thursday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.
Brynlee Humphries was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Ally Duckworth and Riley Thomas did most of the damage at the plate: Duckworth went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Thomas went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Those two doubles gave Duckworth a new career-high. Kinley Webb was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Alexandria-Monroe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastbrook only posted an OBP of .222.
Caston hit Marion with a five-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Giants fell just short of the Comets by a score of 8-7.
Like Alexandria-Monroe, Marion also got a great game from a two-way player: Aly Earnest. On the mound, she struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. With that strong performance, Earnest is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.
In other batting news, Jasmine Weaver was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
Alexandria-Monroe's victory bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Marion, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Alexandria-Monroe has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Marion struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Alexandria-Monroe took their win against Marion in their previous matchup back in May of 2021 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Giants have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
