Basketball Recap: Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Takes a Loss

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 63-33 loss at the hands of the Albany Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 412th, while the Falcons are ranked 50th).

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maggie Lescault, who posted ten points and four steals. Lescault has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Taniyah Monforte was another key player, putting up 14 points and five boards.

Albany's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jasani Francis Torras led the charge by going 7 of 15 en route to 19 points. Aza Mcknight also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13. As for Albany, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 77-37 loss against Shenendehowa on the 31st. Albany has also already played their next matchup, a 74-32 win against Poughkeepsie on the 30th.
