The Raleigh-Egypt Pharaohs waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They snuck past Millington Central with a 67-63 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Raleigh-Egypt's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jeremiah Ward, who scored 22 points. Ward is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Jewell Smith was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Millington Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brandon Payne, who scored 22 points. Payne is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Maclin, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Raleigh-Egypt is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Millington Central, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-11.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Munford the next time they take the court. Raleigh-Egypt will head out to face Munford at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Millington Central will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
