After losing to the Holdrege Dusters the last time they met, the Minden Whippets decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Minden came out on top in a nail-biter against Holdrege on Friday and snuck past 56-54. That's two games straight that Minden has won by exactly two points.
Kade Dorszynski was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Lutkemeier, who scored nine points.
When it comes to explaining why Holdrege lost, one person who can't be blamed is Garret Johnson. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with two steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Coy Swanson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Minden is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Holdrege, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Minden will square off against Cozad at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cozad is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.9 points per game. As for Holdrege, they will head out on the road to take on Ainsworth at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
