The Corner Canyon Chargers will face off against the Clearfield Falcons at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Corner Canyon will be strutting in after a win while Clearfield will be coming in after a loss.
Corner Canyon saw some tournament action on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over Crimson Cliffs. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.

Nathan Horstmann was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
In other pitching news, Jacob Troast tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Drew Whatcott, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Whatcott is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Clearfield came up short against Stansbury on Monday, falling 15-5.
Clearfield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taven Swartz, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was Hudson Meyer, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Clearfield's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Corner Canyon, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Corner Canyon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Clearfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Corner Canyon's way against Clearfield when the teams last played back in March of 2022, as Corner Canyon made off with a 10-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Corner Canyon since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
