After flying high against the Owings Mills Golden Eagles on Monday, the Parkville Knights came back down to earth. Parkville ended up on the wrong side of a rough 58-36 walloping at the hands of Kenwood on Wednesday. Parkville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Kenwood apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.
It was another big night for Diamond Watters, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 22 rebounds for Kenwood. Those 22 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Arionna Hicks, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Parkville's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-3. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.6 points per game. As for Kenwood, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
After both having extra time off, Parkville and Owings Mills will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 4:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Owings Mills comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Kenwood will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Aberdeen at 5:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
