The Raymond Central Mustangs lost against the Arlington Eagles back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The match between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Raymond Central falling 47-33. They have not had much luck with Arlington recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Raymond Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colton Dubas, who scored 15 points. The matchup was Dubas' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tavion Johnson, who scored ten points.
Leading Arlington to victory were Trent Koger and Kieryn Grothe. Koger dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds, while Grothe scored 16 points along with five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Koger has scored at least 25% of Arlington's points. Another player making a difference was Schuyler Logemann, who scored nine points.
Raymond Central bumped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Arlington, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Raymond Central won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Centennial at 4:30 p.m. on January 6th. Hopefully Centennial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday. Arlington won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Archbishop Bergan at 6:00 p.m. on January 6th. Archbishop Bergan is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
