Ascension Christian will head out on the road to take on the Hanson Memorial Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Wednesday, Ascension Christian got the win against Plaquemine by a conclusive 16-1. The result was nothing new for Ascension Christian, who have now won three matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Emory Walter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Walter was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, Grace Aucoin and Aubri Shaffett did most of the damage at the plate: Aucoin went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Shaffett went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Avery Rome, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Wednesday. Hanson Memorial put the hurt on Westgate with a sharp 17-1 victory. Hanson Memorial has beaten Westgate the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Westgate has come to flipping the script.
Like Ascension Christian, Hanson Memorial also got a great game from a two-way player: Onnie Doucet. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Doucet has allowed since back in February of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. She also put up three RBI, which were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Camren Rochel was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Emily Faucheux also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Hanson Memorial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .750. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.
The win made it two in a row for Ascension Christian and bumps their season record up to 3-1-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.5 runs. As for Hanson Memorial, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
