Basketball Recap: Spring Creek Takes a Loss

Spring Creek lost against North Johnston last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Spring Creek Gators had to suffer through a 57-28 loss at the hands of the North Johnston Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 414th, while the Panthers are ranked 77th).

North Johnston found their leader in sophomore Amiyah Grimes, who went 10 of 17 on her way to 23 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Boswell, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 10 points.

Spring Creek has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for North Johnston, the win keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring Creek will venture away from home to take on Midway at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Spring Creek is facing Midway at the right time seeing as Midway is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for North Johnston, they will head out to square off against Franklin Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Johnston's defense has only allowed 24.2 points per game this season, so Franklin Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
