Baseball Recap: Weld Central Comes Up Short

Weld Central lost against Sterling back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rebels fell 9-4 to the Tigers. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nathan Dinges was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Weld Central's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 5-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Witzel, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Weld Central's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Sterling, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Weld Central will be playing in front of their home fans against University at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sterling, they will head out to challenge Arvada at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
